Chapter 1: Angel
Chapter 1: Angel
"Good night Fred."
"Good night Jo. Don't let the ghosts in."
Joseph chuckled. It was an ongoing joke.
They parted ways as Fred made off in his car. Joseph decided to start his rounds as normal. He was night shift for the company. He entered in through the main doors and made sure the security systems were on to any outside intruder. The office building was pretty big. It took more or less 45 minutes to get around the entire thing.
Joseph was a normal security guard. He had on his black uniform with his hand gun and holster on his waist, a big standard flashlight in his hand as he walked. He stood taller than normal and rather enjoyed being physically fit.
His rounds were always easy and the stairs never seemed like a daunting task to him. 5 flights on each end of the building were laid out in the building's schematics with two elevators and a reception room in the main entrance. All was normal. All was quiet.
Jo made his way from room to room peering in and making sure everything was safe and where it should be.
The building was newer. The company that owned it sold car insurance. They were a pretty good business with reliable clients and never too many problems. They had great lawyers. It was amazing the impact that words had whenever a problem arose. One of the main policies was to "keep your cool." Using this principle that was encouraged among all clients kept situations talk-able and clean.
Joseph had been a security guard for a while. He enjoyed the job but always craved a bit of action at times, his adventurous side or so his wife said. He was walking along a wing of the building when a reflection in the window caught his eye. He grinned at himself using the dark mirror and continued his route, remember the instance when during close up time he felt that he had a seen a glint on the window so vividly he had called all the other officers and janitors on duty to alert. When everyone finally figured out what was going on they all just laughed and said that he was seeing ghosts. He had been so frightened at the time but now looked back at the memory with fondness. People appreciated others that could laugh at themselves.
The something caught his eye again. He turned into the room that was reflected in the mirror. One of the computers was on near the back. The blue screen gave light to a man's face. He called out, "Hey."
The screen went black. The flashlight still focused on the man's bald head.
"Put your hands up, stand up, and tell me who you are." demanded Jo as he raised his gun.
The man put his hands on his head and slowly stood up. His clear voice shot through the beam of light at Jo, "Joseph, there is no need to lift your gun. I'm finished here and I'm leaving now." He started walking towards Jo.
Before the officer could react the man drew a gun and shot Joseph's gun out of his hand with ultimate accuracy. "There is no need to fear. I'm just on my way out. Don't try to follow me," came his clear voice again. It was almost memorizing.
The next few seconds cast such a strong memory in the Joseph's mind that he couldn't forget it in a long time even though it was so foggy. The bald man noticed something in the doorway and started turning his gun. Joseph heard gun shots behind him and immediately threw himself to the ground. The bald man no longer had his gun but was charging the unseen shots. Joseph heard another shot and then fists and groans. Moments later a window broke and the alarm sounded loud. He heard a crash down at the bottom.
Carefully he got up and moved himself towards the window. He was on the fifth floor and peered out over the broken glass. At the bottom he saw one man trotting off and the bald man motionless on the ground. 'How could anyone have survived that?' thought Jo. 'The new guy must have landed on the bald man and used him as a cushion,' answered his cognitive processes. 'The real police will be here any moment. I wonder what he was doing here.' This and many other questions needed answers.
Peering around at the little glass that had fallen inside the building he made his way back into the room. The man's gun was still on the floor. Hopefully some conclusion would be made in tracing it. He made his way around to the computer that the bald man had used and glanced to find any marking or evidence that he had used it. It all seemed in perfect order.
He could hear the police cars and see the reflections of their lights on the walls. Exiting the room he descended the stairs to meet them.
There were only two cars that had come to investigate, three cops altogether. Without any explanation that was the base amount. Joe talked over the situation with the officers. He pointed over to where the body had landed. It was around the corner. They took a walk to the bend and peering around found only broken glass.
"It looks like someone landed there alright," said the main officer. Joe couldn't believe it.
"They fell from the fifth floor as you can clearly see."
"Let's be on the look out. Maybe one or both of them are still here. Not likely I know but just to be on the safe side. Joseph, lead us up to the fifth floor," commanded the officer in reply to the look that Joe gave him.
Guns at the ready they entered into the deserted office. Flashlights leading them ahead Joe headed the officers up the stairs slowly. They were all cautious. They made their way through the hall and over to the room, guns raised. Looking into the room Joe noticed that the gun was gone.
'First he didn't die and second his gun is gone? How did he even get past us? The back door was dead bolt locked,' thought Joe.
After checking the immediate crime scene they decided to split up and search the offices again from top to bottom hoping to find some sort of evidence that the two individuals had been there.

Epic, the Video Game
This is the idea of the video game "Epic". There is so much information and so I'll try to provide it slowly but surely.
Warning: Spoiler Alert
Synapses:---------------------------------------------------------
Two Atlantians who have immortality survive the destruction of Atlantis. You play as the protagonist. He was employed to prevent a huge explosion that took out the city. When in the act he finally ends up on a cliff where the antagonist shoots him as a labeled "traitor" to the city.
He wakes up on the sand of an Egyptian beach with three individuals as care takers. There is the grandfather, a little boy and a little girl. They take him home to their Egyptian farm where the player learns the controls. The Atlantian finally is invited to go to town where the game begins. It takes place through all the ages of man. The Company is the group that evolves from this family that takes him in. He receives different powers for different reasons across the ages. He finally comes up to his love life, is threatened by the bad guy, and chooses his own fate.
Game Play:---------------------------------------------------------
The game will be in third person much like Splinter Cell or Max Payne.
Two dimensions to note are the health and energy bar. Health is a slightly translucent red screen that starts at the four corners, comes inward and eventually fills the screen. If it doesn't hit the center of the screen it will slowly detract as long as the character is not hit. Once it covers the entire screen the main character dies. Energy starts from the middle of each side of the screen and is a translucent blue. The blue will cover the screen when used and when not used will slowly revert back to the corners. If you use up all the energy than the blue will become inoperable till it no longer appears on the screen again reverting slowly to represent recharge.
When the player dies the screen freezes and then rewinds the gameplay back to a certain point where the protagonist shakes his head and says some witty line and then lets the player resume game play. This is illustrated with Pre-Cognition.
The player will have at their disposal a certain TSTS System. When activated the player will be able to plan out his next attacks in a "virtual reality". The player will have frozen all elements of the game around him and let him play out the next 30 seconds of the game. Once the player finishes the 30 seconds or hits the resume button he will go back to his original position and start executing the commands that the player assigned him. He will have two free steps in frozen time and then a 3 and half second slow resume to normal speed of game play in which the character will automatically execute the attacks the player did in the "virtual reality". The player can of course choose to exit the sequence whenever they need to in the case that someone happens they didn't expect.
Abilities:------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-Cognition
The protagonist enters a certain chamber with two doors and a spirit that appears when moved towards one of them. The spirit tells him to choose the other door. The player slowly goes through a chamber that eventually forces him to die. The screen freezes and then rewinds all the actions taken until the player sees the Atlantian about to enter the door. The character is shown a slight portion where he receives the immortality serum. The spirit engages in conversation with him and instructs that it is due to his pre-cognitive ability that the player didn't die. The spirit then moves from the door and lets the play move enter the correct door that pursues the story.
Wind Tunnel
Cries arise from the African safaris. The player intends to investigate the situation. He travels south and finds a certain village with 9 polls surrounding. He enters to find all the houses standing as if there were no problem. He notices all the people looking sad along with a dry well. When they notice him they direct him to the chief's house. Inside the problem is explained to him. The village across the river has redirected the flow of the river. Normally the power of the Gods was used to produce storms where the water from the river would come across the plains and rain down on their land. They would put up a huge canopy on the 9 polls with a whole in the center that would put the rain into the well. The well had dried up a long long time ago but the people were able to continue to survive with the help of their sacred "Wind Tunnel", a cone of wind that could change the direction of air flow. The hero is instructed that he will be blessed with the wind tunnel if he accepts the quest to undam the river and return the village to habitual status. All in all the Atlantian finishes the task with a the help of a stronger wind tunnel spell and is blessed with great rain for the village and a weaker but boundless wind tunnel. What this wind tunnel does is produces a cone of wind with the biggest diameter starting at the hands of the protagonist and then shrinking as it goes out.
Ninja Teleportation
The story has not been produced for this ability. It is a basic teleportation tool that ninjas use to get 6 feet out of the way in any direction they want. They hit the ground with a splice of black powder and appear somewhere else. The character will be able to acquire this ability and be able to even go through walls if they are within distance. What we imagined was a sphere of possible locations to appear around the character. A dot in the center will slowly move away from the center at an accelerated rate. The player will control the starting direction of the point and the height of the dot in three dimensional space. The game will freeze long enough for the point to hit the farthest point of the sphere and the character will be teleported. It is a very tricky ability that cannot be too powerful but once mastered proves one of the most convenient. We haven't decided about momentum control once entering and exiting the sphere.
Ground Smash
Minotaurs are dangerous labyrinth creatures. The Atlantian will find himself thrust into a human maze of shrubbery outside a castle. He will face the minotaur at the end of the maze and defeat it. If he does he will also be able to read how the minotaur can produce a wave when hitting the ground with it's fist and hammer. The player will then have acquired that power which makes a shock wave that damages the opponents closest to the impact point and does less and less as it ripples out, damaging and then knocking out opponents as hit. Enemies can jump over the ripple.
Two Step Advantage
Everyone wonders why werewolves are so effective at what they do. Are they just stronger or faster? They definitely aren't smarter. What will be given the Atlantian is the ability to take a two step advantage on every opponent. He will contract this disease from the werewolves but because of his Atlantian blood or his immortality injection will be immune to most of the abilities including the lack of speed and strength. The player will be able to hit a button that stops everything happening and lets the character take two steps before everything resumes immediately.
Momentary Freeze Time
Even Vampires cannot keep up their insane speed all the time. Their secret lies in the manipulation of the time space continuum. They can freeze time as long as they stop moving themselves. It gives them extra time to think and plan their attacks. Once they start moving time slowly speeds up within 3 and half seconds but with that extra edge they can take down most problems. The character while in the dirty streets of europe will be bitten by a vampire and made extremely sick only to recover with the increased ability of momentary freeze time.
Two Step Time Stop System (TsTs System)
This is my personal favorite. When the player activates this ability the game splits into dimensions in the following sense. The player enters the second dimension and will have 30 seconds of frozen time to play the game from the starting position. They can ninja poof or shoot their gun or anything they wish. They can choose to exit the mode early or wait for the 30 seconds. Once time is up the character will renter dimension 1 and will resume gameplay from the original spot. The character will put into action what the player did in the 2nd dimension. He will have two free steps in frozen time and then a 3 and a half second time in which the speed of game play resumes. Of course the character could be hit by an NPC that the player didn't predict and so the player will be able to stop the actions that the character performs at any time. This ability will be unlocked once both the vampire traits and the werewolf traits take hold.
Lightening Speed
Hermes is the God of commerce and transportation. He controls the threshold of entering and exiting the highway. The protagonist provides support and companionship to the runner of the Olympian flame. The player will move the joystick forward that brings the Atlantian to a jog and run. Once the button is pressed the Atlantian will accelerate at a rate and then slowly decrease that acceleration. What this will cause is an increased run that slowly gets faster and faster the more distance traveled. It won't be very effective for running around corners or stalking enemies but very good for outrunning vampires and dodging sniper shots.
Fireball
What fantasy game is complete without a fireball? It is really cliche but the Atlantian will be able to control a fireball. Ta da! The end.
Area Lightening
Does anyone remember super sonic? He'll play a part in this. The area lightening attack is a gift from none other than Zeus. He is impressed with a certain task that the protagonist completed for him. This is how it works. The player starts a charge which means the blue energy screen will slowly overlap the monitor. As the player charges up the electricity the character will slowly have electric charges running around and through him. His eye color will slowly turn white and so will his hair with a spiky edge to it. Once the area lightening is fully charged the player will remain like that till he unleashes the electricity. The player can stop charging and then continue later as long as he isn't hit in between. Once he is fully charged he will remain charged until usage of the area lightening. It will cause electricity to come out like a gust of wind with the character being the eye of the storm. It will slowly spread out and shock/emp anything in the vicinity. It is much like the Ground Smash except that it covers 3 dimensional space.
Some Special Scenes:----------------------------------------------
WW2 Tank shell being returned
One of the cool features of the video game would be the redirecting of projectiles. We had in mind a long street with buildings in the back ground. The main character finds himself swinging around the bend and having been hidden behind some bushes finds himself face to face with a tank 50 yards away. The tank hesitates for a moment lining up a shot at the unsuspecting victim. It fires and the massive bullet hurtles forward towards the Atlantian. From a point behind the character we see the shell slow down and him moving slightly to the right. The camera changes view to a fixed parallel on the projectile zooming to the right of the screen but always centered. The play takes his hand and moves it on the exterior of the bullet and moves his hand in counter clockwise motion ever so slightly guiding it into a U turn formation and then letting it go, never hard enough to make it explode. The bullet escapes the camera as it returns to watching the main view of the battle from behind the character. The shell speeds up as it hits the tank and explodes it. This would be an example of the way that projectiles could be deflected.
Vampires Attack
The Atlantian will be in an apartment somewhere in Europe. There will be windows and walls just as normal with balconies and a group-complex yard behind. Vampires will start knocking on the door and the player has to run. This idea was built off the layout of the Livorno LDS missionary apartment.
Rockets
On a catwalk in a warehouse the character will walk through a door on the side, entering into another portion of the warehouse. Below him gathering together are two people with rockets and many small arms infantry.

Dream Sept-23-2010
Last night I had a dream that I was a stamp traveler. For those who don't know what that means it is based off the concept of a Canadian film where kids find the secret to shrinking themselves down and getting put on stamps. Any friend that saw you go on the stamp cannot pick up the letter to mail it but once you are mailed and arrive at your destination you can come back to normal size. It is a very easy way to travel but also very dangerous should your letter never reach its destination.

Idea
I just got an idea for some sort of story. I'm reading the sea of trolls and the thought of magic came into my head. What is magic is truly just a better use of the mind. Things that are magical come from the spirit world. If we were more in tune with our spirit and had command over our bodies in that form what would we be able to do?
So think of a world where the Holy war is still going on but with two sides fighting very much in the physical realm. One is the dark side that has been taught by Satan or seduced rather while the light side is protecting everything. Both sides are only humans. Satan doesn't have a form and God works by faith. People on both sides are trained to get in tune with their spirit and the more they understand that connection and power the stronger they become, in every aspect. I could limit it to just mere human capabilities but I could also include Angel speed and fire water element type magical work or invisibility and mind reading. I think it would make a cool story. Here is the idea saved.
Whenever I refer to the Spirit I refer to each individuals "master" spirit and not the other spirits that some could say exist in other components of life.
Immunities:---------------------------------
Germs attack the body. This weakens it and makes it vulnerable to attacks and loss of mobile function. Germs do not attack the spirit. With control being turned over to the Spirit is the body less threatened? Is there a revitalizing power that our spirit can put forth over the body to stop diseases.
Many people say that people have "lost the will" to live when they die. I submit that it is the same concept for getting ill. People become ill because they are "too stressed" or because they don't have enough will to "keep fighting." People lose their muscles because they get lazy and don't keep them in shape or eat improperly. If we understood the importance of keeping our bodies healthy and our muscles up to prime condition would we not work towards it? When we understand concepts we also understand why they are important. Those that love school understand why each concept is important to their eternal understanding.
Self Cloaking:---------------------------------
This is a concept that might be outside these people's capabilities. The Spirit works with spiritual matter. Everything was created spiritually before it was created physically. The spirit probably can communicate with other spiritual matter just as the body can interact with other physical matter. The atoms closely around a human are most likely the closest sphere of influence that the spirit has other than the actual body. If the spirit knew these atoms so well like friends those friends would be willing to adapt and change according to the will and desire of the spirit. Does that mean that they could be changed into other components just at "will"? Could the spirit say to the atoms directly in front the body to refract the light that the atoms behind it are reflecting?
"Know thyself"
When a human falls from a one story building as soon as they hit the ground they compress their legs. We all know that this is normal and it slowly puts pressure onto your body so that you can handle the fall. If you were to hit the ground with locked legs all the pressure would hit you in one blow and you could possibly break your spinal cord. Do we cushion our falls at the most effective rate so that just below the threshold of damage is drawn out with each moment of the impact? Or do we not use our legs as effective as possible and take the brunt of the force on the initial and then slowly put less and less? What if we could know ourselves so well that the force of the impact was spread out never too much to damage ourselves but lasted the entire time that we compress our legs? Couldn't we fall from a higher building? If we could work our legs more effectively could we jump higher?
The body and the spirit make up the soul. The brain is the organ tissue part of the body that the spirit directs. The brain goes through many electrical signals but we are said to only be using 10% of it. Do we feel our spirit? The spirit commands the body. If we could completely control the spirit in us would we unlock that other 90%? What would that allow us to do?
Revelation is when the mind understands a concept. When the body understands a spiritual matter. Another more common way of understanding revelation are those Aha! moments. Aha moments happen with the body or mind is pushed to the next limit. Whenever a member of squad angel or of the converted understand a new concept or find a new battle they hit an Aha! moment.
Team Angel is composed of 4 guys and a girl. Team Converted is usually a much smaller group, say 1 or 2 individuals, but just as only a 1/3rd of the host of heaven have been cast out they are also extremely dangerous. The purpose of the converts is to bring souls down to hell. Team Angel is obviously the protection of morals and life to keep people from entering the dark side and thus achieving eternal salvation.

Whenever a member of squad angel or of the converted understand a new concept or find a new battle they hit an Aha! moment.

Dreams Sept-22-2010
Last Night I had some fun dreams. I dreamed that I had a huge BYU blanket given to me for something that I did, or I think it was something that I didn't do. I was very grateful seeing as it is starting to get cold.
My life is going pretty well. I got to rock climb with Norm Sorensen yesterday up in the canyon. We did red slab, not too difficult but enough for us. I got through Artemis Fowl and will start the second book that Gwen suggested me. It deals with Norse gods, a concept I've never had a liking towards but we'll see if this book doesn't change that opinion of mine. I am really grateful for all the wonderful things in my life but yet at times I am still bored. Patience.
